What is the Paper & Print project?

This 2024 National Lottery Heritage Fund project will investigate the history of papermaking mills in Exeter - their social and global histories as well as investigating the details of process and production and mapping the locations of them.

·      A team of 18 community volunteers are leading the research with support from the University of Exeter’s Cultural Geography department.

·      We will explore the archives of Exeter Cathedral, Devon and Exeter Institution, Devon Heritage Centre and we will work with Two Rivers Paper Mill as part of our research.

·      We are delivering a range of artist-led adult, family, school and community workshops around papermaking and the relationship between printmaking and paper. We’re working with The Pelican Project, Make South West, RAMM, Exeter Phoenix, Devon Wildlife Trust and Two Rivers Paper Mill.
